T: Hello, boys and girls, today we’ll continue learning Unit 7 Protect the Earth
Step2. Presentation and practice
1. T: We live on the Earth. It’s our home. Let’s enjoy a song
S: Enjoy the song.
T: In the song, we can see such a beautiful world. However, nowadays the Earth is getting ill. Actually, this problem is getting more and more serious. We have to protect the Earth. We can do a class project to let more people know it.(板书:a class project)
2. T: But how to do it? Here are four steps.
First, we should find out the problems. That’s why we do it.(板书:problems)
T: In story time, what are the problems?
S1: Water problems. In many places, there is not much water.
T: Yes, water resources are very lacking.

T: You see, it is a serious problem.
S2: Energy problems. Most of our energy comes from coal and oil. There’s not much coal or oil on Earth.
T: Right, energy is very lacking too.

T: Coal and oil are non-renewable. Their shortages have brought on an energy crisis.
S3: Tree problems. We cut down too many trees.
T: (资料表明:人类每年因发展经济大约砍伐150亿棵树,如果这样继续下去,再过300年,所有的树木都将消失。)
How terrible!
S4: Plastic problems. We use too much plastic.

T: They’re non-degradable. It is a very serious problem.
3. T: Next, try to say what bad results the problems bring? (板书:bad results)
Water: If the land is too dry, we can’t grow. If there’s less water, we have no water to drink, we have no water to take a shower. ..
Energy: GDP will decline. Many people will lose their jobs...
Trees: global warming, soil erosion...
Plastic: It is bad for the animals. White pollution...
4. Then, how to solve the problems. Are there any good ideas? (板书:good ideas )

Water: We should save water.
We should reuse water. We can reuse water to ...
We shouldn’t waste water. We should turn off the tap when we brush our teeth...
Energy: We should develop and use new energy. Wind energy, nuclear energy, solar energy. New energy vehicles are around us now.
We shouldn’t drive so much. Green travel, start from me.
Trees: We should save trees.
We should plant more trees.
We should protect the trees.(在树干上涂一层石灰水,还可以搭窝引鸟,防治病虫。)
We shouldn’t cut down too many trees.
Plastic: We should use paper bags and glass bottles.
We should use degradable bangs.
We should reuse plastic. We can reuse plastic to ...
We shouldn’t use too much plastic.
5. T: Your ideas are great! We can take care of our Earth. We are going green. Let’s watch the video and know more good ideas.
Reduce: Be careful how long you take a shower. You don’t need to stand there for 70 hours! Turn off the water when you’re brushing your teeth... and only use the necessary energy. Turn off the light when they’re not in use. Think how much electricity you produce! Take quick drinks. Walk to school. Reducing energy is really cool! Pull out plugs when you’re not using them. Turn off the computer every now and then. Throw away litter. Pick up trash...and you’ll save the Earth in a flash!
Reuse: Reuse stuff when you ’re out and about. If you can use it again, don’t throw it out. Reuse bottles. Reuse bags. Reuse containers. Reuse rags. Donate toys so someone else can use them! Donate clothes, don;t just lose them!
Recycle: Just throwing away is not enough. Recycle some things to make new stuff! Paper, cans, plastic, glass, cardboard, games, CDs and DVDs, light bulbs, cartridges and batteries, laptops, cell phones and the news, lots of metals you can choose.

Step3. Consolidation
1. T: Finally, make a proposal, call on more people to notice it .(板书:proposal)
Do you know how to write a proposal? Look at the screen. Read it by yourselves, please.
2. How to write?
First, we can talk about the problems.
Next, we can talk about the bad results.
Then, say something about the good ideas.
Finally, we can add a slogan, for example: Protect the Earth, start from me!
3. Your proposals are really nice. After class, you can make it more beautiful and put them at the school gate.
