At the end of this lesson, the students are supposed to,

1. Use the sentence pattern: “How do I get to ...? ” to ask the way.

2. Use the right sentences to state oneself while giving the right directions.

3. Master the new words: cinema, hospital, bookshop, zoo, traffic lights, streets.

4. Use the knowledge learned today to ask the way and direct the way in real  

  situations.

5. Have the courage to use English and have the awareness to use the knowledge

  in real life.

Step 1. Warm up

Chant together

Left, left, right, right, go, go along, go go go!

Go, go, go along the street.

Turn left at the tra ffic lights.

Turn right at the traffic lights.

Go, go, go along the street.

Step 2. Review Story time

How do we get to Su Hai’s home?

(1) Show them the map of the story time

(2) Report the routine one by one

(3) Practice by themselves

(4) Report the routine together

 

Step 3 Presentation

1. Brain storm – Map(Many things and places)

(1) What’s on the map? ( S ask : Is there a ... /Are there any ...s on the map?)

   str- street; tr- traffic lights; sh-shops; h- hospital; c-cinema

(2) Review and learn the words

(3) Reveal these new things on the fun time map. Complete some parts of this 

   map

2. Learn Grammar time

(1) Establish a scene: The coming of a new visitor.

   mAp : Ask and Answer with a map.

(2) Students help her to get to the bookshop, hospital and cinema

(3) Learn to ask and direct the way

Step 4. Practice

Finish the Fun time map

1. Set information gaps between deskmates.

 ( Each of them hold a part of the fun time map.)

2. Practice sentence patterns while exchanging information.

3. Finish the map.

4. Show the whole map of fun time.

 

Step 5. Production

maP- ask Politely

1. Learn how to ask and answer politely by using “Excuse me, thank you.”

2. Read the helping letters and find out the problems.

3. Finish the helping task by directing the way.

4. Act it out.

 

 

Homework

1. Write your helping plan down.

2. Read Unit3 Asking the way 5 times and preview Sound time & Cartoon time.
