教学过程 Step 1 Pronunciation 1. Tell the Ss that they are going to listen to a number of statements about natural disasters. Ask Ss to listen for the information pattern used in the statement. 2. Play the recording. Then elicit from Ss the intonation pattern. 3. Ask Ss to open their books. Read the statements together with the Ss. Make sure Ss read the sentences with the correct intonation. Step 2 Main task 1. Explain the context. Make sure that Ss have a full understanding of the situation and the audience. Tell them about the power of story telling. 2. Divide Ss into groups of four and ask them to read the information in Sandy’s notes in Part A. 3. Ask Ss to read Sandy’s notes focusing on the details of Sandy’s experience of the snowstorm. 4. Ask the questions in Sandy’s flow chart to check the correct answers with the class. Step 3 Checkout 1 Ss do Part A on their own and compare their answers with a partner.
