Step 1

Grammar and Usage

1. Introduction to the Sentence Patterns

(1) T introduces the sentence elements and sentence patterns.

(2) T lists the example sentences and asks Ss to tell different elements in each sentence and its sentence patterns.

(3) T asks Ss to translate each sentence into Chinese and provides help when needed.

2. Sentence Patterns Identifying

(1) T shows the paragraph about the cultural and creative products of the Forbidden City and asks Ss to write the pattern of each sentence on a piece of paper.

(2) T and Ss check the answers as a class and T gives explanations when necessary.

(3) T asks some Ss to translate the sentences and and provides help when needed.

3. Sentence Making

(1) T shows activity 2 and asks Ss to rearrange the words and phrases into complete sentences.

(2) Ss write the sentences on the line and their patterns in the brackets.

2. Product Introduction Writing

(1) Each student chooses an interesting product they have and write its name on paper.

(2) Ss work in groups and ask and answer question listed in activity 6 with each other, which helps to organize thoughts for writing.

(3) Ss write product introduction according to the answers to the questions.

(4) T asks some Ss to share their writings in class and conclude the content of the product introduction.
