Summary of chapter 9-10（故事概要）

Gatsby was killed by Wilson and very few people came to his funeral. Daisy didn’t even send a message or flowers. Nick learnt that Gatsby was kind and generous to his father after his success. Nick also learnt that it was Tom who told Wilson that Gatsby ran over his wife, which led to Wilson’s revenge (报复) on Gatsby.

At the beginning of the story, Nick was fascinated (着迷) by the social world of Tom and Gatsby. But in the end he felt disgust (厌恶) for the people surrounding Gatsby’s life and for the emptiness (空虚) and moral decay (道德腐朽) of life among the wealthy on the East Coast. He decided to move back to the Midwest ---- a rural (农村的), provincial (地方的) part of America, where Jay Gatsby, Tom and Daisy Buchanan and Jordan Baker all came from.
