教学目标:

By the end of this section, students will be able to:

1.  explain the process of communication;

2.   summarize the keys to effective communication;

3.   introduce a topic about communication by giving examples;

4.   apply the skills of effective communication in daily life.

教学过程:

Part 1 Introduction

Lead in

1.   T asks Ss a question to introduce the topic. 

Q: What is the best way to understand each other?

 

2.   T asks Ss to watch a short video and answer the following question. 

Q: Communication problems occur from time to time. What kinds of communication problems have you encountered?

 

3.   T asks Ss to review the quotation in the part of “Welcome to the Unit”, then introduce the following proverb to emphasize the important role of listening in the process of effective communication.

If speaking is silver, then listening is gold. (Turkish Proverb)

Part 2 Exploration

Pre-reading

T asks Ss questions to lead to the title of the article.

Q1: What other effective communication skills do you know?

making eye contact; showing respect; responding timely

Q2: To be an effective communicator, how to sharpen your communication skills?


While reading

Step 1: Global Reading

1.   T asks Ss to scan the lecture transcript and complete the chart below.

2.   T asks Ss to analyze the structure of the passage.

Step 2: Detailed Reading

1.   T asks Ss to read Para. 1 and answer the following question.
